As Mute Math quickly approaches Denver for their 2008 concert with Matchbox 20, we've been promoting the show and the new live album release and hence listening to their songs quite a bit.

One song has begun to stand out on the album for us - Stalled Out.  This song talks about struggling with hope and uncertainty in our journey of life.  This is a beautiful ballad which reminds us of how much God loves us even when we stall out.

Check out the lyrics and listen up for the song on the radio station.

Racing on a faultline
Bracing for a landslide
Concious of every move getting harder
Has the race gone underwater?

I keep stalling out
I just can't keep up
There's alarming doubt
Am I good enough?
But you keep coming around
To convince me
It's still far from over, oh

We are still far
We are still far
We are still far from over

Mute Math is coming to Denver!!!

We've been tracking Mute Math since the release of their first single 'Peculiar People' in mid 2006 (which we still play on our radio station).  Now touring with the likes of prominent pop artist Matchbox 20, Mute Math is in the limelight and Denver is gearing up to welcome them with open arms.

Born in the dust-laden family garage with archaic samplers, Radio Shack mics, and broken record players, Mute Math has been noisily calculating their notes for the past few years. This electro-alt rock collaboration between longtime friends Paul Meany (vocals/keys), Darren King (drums), Greg Hill (guitar), and Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (bass) has crept up on the music scene with force thanks to the 2006 release of their full length debut cd "Mute Math" (Teleprompt), the onslaught of a worldwide fan-base driven to their website, and this years nearly sold-out nationwide Album Release Tour.

The four piece (originating from New Orleans) has scattered influences that are apparent without being obvious, and touch on everything from DJ Shadow styled beats, moments of beauty and grandeur a la Bjork, and vocals that pay legitimate homage to Police-era Sting. When asked about this vast expanse of musical territory that we are asked to find them dwelling within, Meany replied, "I blame it on the past forty years of music." They act on the idea that their magic is to be found in the mixture of countless thoughts. Their live show thrives on this random energy too involving homemade instruments, live sampling, a junked-out keytar, and enough dizzying energy to make the hardest cynics wet their pants. So, bring an extra pair if you have to, but don't miss them this Summer as they make appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Warped Tour.

Mute Math has recently released a DVD on Warner Brothers Records entitled “Flesh And Bones Electric Fun“.  Amazon readers have given this DVD a 5-star review!

What does all this mean?  Do NOT miss them live.

Mute Math plays on Wednesday night, March 5, 2008 at the Broomfield Events Center in Broomfield, Colorado, just outside of Denver (heading towards Boulder).

After returning from a Youth Specialties conference in San Diego, I was made aware of “The Bible Experience” on audio CD and audiobook.  The recordings were done by an amazing cast including: Samual L. Jackson, Denzel Washington, TD Jakes, Common, Heavy D, Angela Basset, and many, many other Emmy and Grammy Winners. What a dramatic way to learn the Word!

Here is a video promotion for the disc:
